This is so easy, you’ll never pay the price for store bought treats!

2 Cups whole wheat flour

1 Apple grated or processed (I don’t bother peeling)

1 Banana mashed or processed

3 Tablespoons of peanut butter

3 Tablespoons of grated cheese (Cheap parmesan works well)

2 Tablespoons of Olive or Canola Oil

3 Tablespoons of water or meat broth

1/4 Cup of non-fat powdered milk

1 Egg

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees.

Mix dry ingredients and then add wet components and mix together well. You’ll likely have to work this into a dough ball with your hands. Once mixed to the consistency of bread dough, dust your work surface with flour and roll the dough out to a size that coordinates with your cookie sheet. If you’ve got too much you might have to roll the dough out in two batches.

I am not a pastry chef by any stretch of the imagination.

Transfer the flat dough to a cookie sheet and score into bite sized pieces. I used a pizza cutter (on my cheapo spare cookie sheet) and it worked really well.

Bake for about 13-14 minutes until golden brown. The treats won’t be totally crispy until they’ve cooled so don’t be disappointed yet. Fair warning, these things smell really good when they’re baking; you might want to have something to snack on while you wait for the oven. I don’t suggest snacking on the treats though because they’re bland as heck. (I did NOT try them but my other-half insisted on doing so, even after I told him what was in them.)

Let the treats cool and break apart along the score lines and store in an airtight container for up to about a month or more. These can also be frozen for longer storage.

There are loads of recipes on the web this one just seems to work for my dog. I figure each batch cost me about a buck to make.
